Our roots trace back to the early 21st century, a period of dynamic transformation for the Polish economy. Recognizing the critical need for domestic energy production to reduce import dependency, a group of visionary engineers and energy investors laid the groundwork for what would become Aurelian Oil & Gas . We began as a modest exploration and production firm, focusing on unlocking challenging but promising natural gas fields in southern Poland.
The first decade was defined by grit and determination. We invested heavily in seismic technology and advanced drilling techniques, achieving our first major commercial success in 2002. This milestone provided the capital and, more importantly, the credibility to expand.
A pivotal moment came in 2006 with the strategic acquisition of a key pipeline network. This move marked our evolution from a simple producer to a midstream player, giving us control over the transport of our resources. This was quickly followed by investments in crucial warehousing and storage infrastructure, including the development of underground gas storage facilities, further bolstering Poland’s energy security.
The 2012 marked our ambitious entry into the downstream sector. We acquired and initiated a multi-billion-zloty modernization of the Aurelian Oil & Gas Refinery near Gdańsk, transforming it into one of the region’s most efficient and environmentally compliant facilities. This integration allowed us to capture the full value of every barrel of crude oil, producing high-grade fuels and, subsequently, launching our Chemical Product and Preparation Manufacturing division.
Today, from our head office in Warsaw, Aurelian Oil & Gas oversees a sprawling yet synergistic network of assets. We are a major employer, a significant taxpayer, and a critical component of the national infrastructure.
